New Jersey is bursting with incredible scenic beach and mountain views, exciting nightlife and entertainment galore, along with safe and friendly neighborhoods and communities. We really have it all in this state and the town of Hopewell is no different. It is not the biggest or the shiniest town in the state, but it has an old, timely elegance, which is what keeps residents living here and loving it for many years.
Hopewell has a population of a little more than 1900 residents. It is one of the oldest communities in the nation. It was first purchased in the late 17th century, by Daniel Coxe, as a 30,000-acre parcel of land. As the years went on, the land was bought and sold, changing over time as colonial settlers moved in and out. You can still see the historic evidence of these settlers today with the many historical buildings dotting the town. For instance, the Hopewell Academy, which was founded in 1756 as a Baptist Parsonage can still be seen as one of the oldest buildings in Hopewell. One of the prettiest and most iconic buildings in town is the Hopewell train station. It does not serve this purpose today, but it is a charming piece of Hopewell’s past and has now been renovated as a community center.
Hopewell is the perfect place to settle when you want to live in a safer, smaller, quieter community, yet still live close enough the big cities when you want to see some excitement. The Jersey Shore is just an hour’s drive to the east where you can bask in the sunshine on some of America’s best beaches. The sand and the surf is world famous and people come from all over the world to vacation on the New Jersey coast, yet you get the luxury of living a mere 1 hour drive away. Hopewell is also a short 90-minute drive from New York City. There could not be a better place to raise a family than in a small, country town with all the privileges and opportunities of city excitement within such a short range.
Hopewell might be a small community but it has a nice selection of delicious restaurants when you’d rather not drive very far. From cozy Italian delights at Antimo’s Italian Kitchen or Nomad Pizza to the upscale, fine dining at the Blue Bottle Cafe or Brick Farm Tavern, you can always satisfy your cravings in Hopewell. The Peasant Grill and The Brothers Moon restaurants offer delicious American style meals while Orlando’s Cafe serves up the best banana splits around. You don’t have to flock to the glimmering lights of the big city to find fantastic feasts, Hopewell definitely delivers when it comes to diversity in dining.
